The Global Crisis

Human trafficking is one of the world's fastest-growing criminal industries, generating an estimated $236 billion in illegal profits each year. More than 27 million people are living in situations of trafficking or forced labor worldwide, with women and girls disproportionately affected by sexual exploitation. Trafficking thrives where poverty, violence, gender inequality, and limited opportunities intersect, making vulnerable individuals easier to recruit, exploit, and control. While rescue is often viewed as the solution, sustainable recovery requires long-term, trauma-informed care that addresses the physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs of survivors.

Honduras is recognized as a source, transit, and destination country for human trafficking. Women and girls remain particularly vulnerable due to poverty, family violence, organized crime, and limited access to education and employment. Although emergency shelters and short-term services exist for some survivors, Honduras currently lacks a long-term, Christ-centered residential program dedicated to helping adult women rebuild their lives after sexual exploitation and trafficking. Too often, survivors are left to navigate recovery without the sustained support needed to break the cycle of exploitation. Floranza was created to help fill that critical gap.
